General Description

ROAD BEGINNING: 7,500 ft. Freezeout Road (#528) from Fool Creek Ridge to Dry Fork sign.

ROAD ENDING: 6,200 ft. Old Kerns Cow Camp.

ATTRACTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS: The Dry Fork Jeep Trail goes down through open sagebrush parks dotted with aspen patches. The last 1/2 mile winds through a lodgepole stand. The Dry Fork Ridge to the right, and the Little Horn Rim straight ahead, can be seen before reaching the timber. In late fall and early spring, herd of elk and deer can be seen in the area.

Approximately one-third of the way down is a steep draw with a very sharp turn at the bottom. This road is moderately difficult. Long wheel base vehicles are not recommended, due to the abrupt turns in V shaped draws. Good clearance is necessary and difficult when wet, particularly in sliding areas.

Directions from Sheridan: Take Interstate 90 west from Sheridan to Ranchester. Take US Hwy. 14 from Ranchester to Burgess Junction. Take FDR #523 Burgess Road northwest five miles to junction of FDR #528. Turn right and go 4 1/2 miles down Fool Å’Creek Ridge to Dry Fork sign.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: June through October .
