Woods Lake Campground is temporarily closed and scheduled to reopen 8/99. It will reopen with 41, which will include a five unit horse-camping spur. Toilets and potable water will be available throughout the campsite. The site lies west of Telluride and south of Sawpit, on Forest Road 618. The elevation of Woods Lake Campground is 9,400 feet. This is a great site for visitors interested in backcountry travel through the Lizard Head Wilderness.
Directions from Telluride: Travel west on Highway 145 passed Sawpit, to Forest Road 618. Turn south on to 618 and drive approximately 7.25 to Forest Road 621. Follow 621 1.25 miles to Woods Lake.
