General Description

Silver Jack Campground is located southeast of Montrose and east of Ridgeway at an elevation of 8,900 feet. The campground sits in a grove of aspen trees above Silver Jack Reservoir.

The campground has 60 camp sites in three loops. Drinking water and vault toilets are available. Sites accommodate tent camping as well as RV's. There are handicapped accessible sites and restroom facilities.

Directions from Montrose: Travel 20 miles east on US Hwy. 50, then 22 miles south on County Road 69.

Normal Services Available: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend (NOTE: The campgrounds may be open before and after these dates, but services such as water and garbage collection may not be provided. Call the local Ranger District for more detailled information.) .

There are three excellent loops to this campground. We stayed on the lowest loop. The upper two loops are the prettiest, but you can't go wrong with any of them. The campground was virtually empty-maybe three or four others were occupied in late July. The hosts were wonderful. We took the hike from the campground to the nearby lake with our three small children (2,5&6) There is a nice little waterfall on down the road-drive, don't walk. And many beautiful hikes are close by. Some of the most incredible mountains are past the lake, a short drive from the campground. It is quite a drive to get to/from the main road(50) and supplies, so bring everything you need! A beautiful spot!
