General Description

Judd Falls Trailhead may also be referred to as the Copper Lake Trailhead. It lies immediately north of the Gothic townsite east of Gothic Road, Forest Service Road 317. The trailhead is located at approximately 9,600 feet. One mile to the east is the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness boundary. Many trails may be accessed from this site including Copper Creek Trail, Judd Falls Trail, Silvanite Mine Trail and Conundrum Hot Springs Trail.

Directions from Crested Butte: Travel six miles north of Crested Butte on Gothic Road to reach the Judd Falls Trailhead.

Conundrum Trail #1981 - This trail lies within the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness and uses Copper Creek as an access to Conundrum Hot Springs.

Copper Creek - Copper Creek is swift and fast with small Brook trout. Access along creek by foot or horse only.

Copper Creek Tail #1983 - Copper Creek Trail, 1983, leads from the Judd Falls Trailhead near Gothic, north to East Maroon Pass. The entire length of this trail is located within the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness.

Copper Lake - This is a high-alpine lake that supports snake river cutthroat and rainbow trout. The fishing is rated as fair.

Gothic Campground - Gothic Campground is surrounded by 13,000 foot mountains that create beautiful, but challenging terrain for biking, hiking, horseback riding and four-wheel driving.
