The Timberline Trailhead lies four and a half miles west of Cottonwood Pass summit along Cottonwood Pass Road. Timberline Trail, 414, and the Continental Divide Trail lead north and south from this site. The trail north leads into the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness within a half mile. The trail south is a multi-use trail open to motorcycles and mountain bikes as well as horses and hikers.
Directions from Cottonwood Pass Summit: Travel four and a half miles west on Cottonwood Pass Road to the trailhead.
Directions from Taylor River Road: Travel through Taylor Canyon to Taylor Park Reservoir. On the eastern shore Cottonwood Pass Road, Forest Service Road 209, intersects Taylor River Road. Turn right on to Cottonwood Pass Road and travel seven and a half miles to the trailhead.
