Washington Gulch Winter Trailhead results from lack of winter maintenance on Washington Gulch Road, Forest Road 811. This trailhead provides access to Gothic Mountain, Anthracite Mesa and Long Lake. This area is used by individuals pursuing many forms of winter recreation. Be prepared to share the trail.
Directions from Crested Butte: Drive two miles north on Highway 135 to Washington Gulch Road. Turn left on to Washington Gulch Road and travel to the winter closure.

Washington Gulch Trail - Washington Gulch Trail leads southeast from Gothic Road to Washington Gulch Road. This four and a half mile trail makes a short day hike if a car is available at each terminus.
Washington Gulch Road #811 - Washington Gulch Road follows Washington Gulch to the abandoned town site of Elkton. It may be combined with Slate River Road to make a loop back to Highway 135.
