General Description

The northern terminus of the Star Trail is accessible from Italian Creek Road, 759. The trailhead lies at approximately 11,830 feet. From this elevation the trail leads into the South Italian Creek drainage. The trail climbs and descends many times along its length. During the last two miles Star Trail makes its final descent into the Trail Creek valley. From trailhead to trailhead the length of Star Trail is approximately eight miles. Star Trail is often traveled for its excellent scenery.

Directions from Almont via Italian Creek Road: Travel 31 miles northeast of Almont on Taylor River Road, 742, to Italian Creek Road, 759. Turn left on Italian Creek Road and drive seven miles west on Italian Creek Road to Star Trailhead.

Directions from Almont: Travel six miles northeast of Almont on the Taylor River Road, 742, to Spring Creek Road, 744. Turn left on to Spring Creek Road and drive nine miles north to Rocky Brook Road, 748. Drive four miles east on Rocky Brook Road to Star Trailhead.

Hadn't ridden this trail in 4 yrs. Much trail maintenance has made it an ideal skill trail.Still has bad spots,many tree roots,but really worth going out of the way to attempt ! I love this trail. Recent trail maint. is evident as several muddy sections have been built up and are easy to cross, thanks to whomever did this hard work! Good trail, but a tough trail.
