The trailhead for this path lies on Ohio Creek Road approximately 19 miles from Highway 135 near Gunnison. The parking lot for this trail is about three miles south of Ohio Pass. The trail begins at 9,320 feet and leads one half mile west to a series of beaver ponds. The trail winds through dense aspen stands and is an excellent hike in the fall season. This is also a good hike to do with small children for some fishing.
Directions from Gunnison: Travel four miles north on Highway 135 to Ohio Creek Road. Follow Ohio Creek Road north about nineteen miles to the Beaver Ponds Trailhead.
Directions from Crested Butte: Leave the town limits on Kebler Pass Road heading westward. Travel passed the road to Irwin Lake and turn on to Ohio Pass Road. Drive four miles on Ohio Pass Road to the Beaver Ponds Trailhead.
