General Description

Leaving the Trailer Court in Almont, the road climbs quickly to the ridge and then heads east along the ridge. (To reach this ridge be sure to take the right fork at the first road junction you see.) The road then heads south along some east facing side hills and reaches a high elevation of 10,420 feet, before descending into Lost Canyon gulch. The road follows the creek for the remainder of the distance leading west toward Gunnison.

Directions from Gunnison: Travel nine miles north on Highway 135 to Almont. Turn on to Taylor River Road, 742, and travel one quarter. Lost Canyon Road will be on your left, through the Trailer Court.

Directions from Gunnison: Travel one mile north on Highway 135 to Cranor Hill Road. Drive approximately three and a half miles northeast on Cranor Hill Road to the junction with Lost Canyon Road.
