The first four miles of this road, from Tincup to Mirror Lake, are usually passable by two-wheel drive vehicles. Beyond the lake the road becomes a lesser used four-wheel drive road with high-clearance recommended. After the lake, the road follows East Willow Creek for a mile then climbs rapidly to the pass. The condition of the road near the pass is variable, and anyone using it should check with the National Forest office before using.
