General Description
Red Mountain Road is only about three and a half miles long round trip. It leads to the northern terminus of the Timberline Trail. A parking lot at the cul-de-sack provides trailhead parking. The first mile of the road, that leads to a group of summer homes, is usually passable by two-wheel drive vehicles. The road generally follows Red Mountain Creek for the remaining distance.
Directions from Almont: Travel twenty-nine miles northeast on Taylor River Road, Forest Road 742, passed Rivers End Campground, to Red Mountain Road, Forest Road 742.8H.
