General Description

Sun Creek Road leaves Steuben Creek Road traveling north one and a half miles to the National Forest boundary. Following Sun Creek to Sun Park the road leads passed this natural park to the West Elk Wilderness boundary. At the wilderness boundary, the road changes to Trail 444. Steuben Creek Road and Sun Creek Road pass through private land, please respect owners rights.

Directions from Gunnison: Travel ten miles west on Highway 50 to Steuben Creek Road, Forest Road 858. Turn north on 858 and travel two and a half miles north to Sun Creek Road, Forest Road 859.

Soap Creek Trail - Soap Creek Trail leads north from Soap Creek Trailhead nine miles to a junction with Soap Basin Trail. Most of the tread parallels Soap Creek. It is contained within the West Elk Wilderness.
