General Description
Texas Creek Road leaves Taylor Canyon Road approximately one mile north of Cottonwood Pass. The road junction lies at 9,350 feet and Texas Creek Road climbs slowly from that elevation. After the first mile, the road joins the Texas Creek and generally follows the creek the remainder of the distance. The first three miles are usually passable by two-wheel drive vehicles. The upper portion of Texas Creek Road passes Texas Lakes, which provide excellent opportunities for fishing. The road ends at the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness boundary (9,945). Use of mechanized and motorized vehicles or equipment is not allowed within the wilderness. Travel restrictions may be in effect in this area, please check the current Travel Map.
Directions from Almont: Travel twenty five miles northeast on the Taylor River Road, Forest Road 742, to Texas Creek Road.
