This trail leads three and a half miles into the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness from Brush Creek Road, 738. A four-wheel drive vehicle is needed to reach the Twin Lakes Trailhead on Middle Brush Creek Road. The trailhead sign is located away form the road at the top of a small hill. To find the trail look for a drainage coming into Middle Brush Creek from the north about three miles from the junction of Middle Brush Creek Road and East Brush Creek Road. The elevation of the trailhead is approximately 10,480 feet. From the trailhead the trail enters the wilderness area and climbs gradually to Twin Lakes at approximately 11,780 feet. It follows the stream for its entire length. This is a very scenic trail.
Directions from Crested Butte: Travel two miles south on Highway 135 and then drive ten miles north on Brush Creek Road, 738, and Middle Brush Creek Road, which is four-wheel drive only.
