The Silvanite Trail begins at the Judd Falls Trailhead and follows Copper Creek Trail, 983, for three and a half miles. It begins at approximately 10,900 feet and leads steeply away from Copper Creek Trail. Silvanite Trail branches from Copper Creek Trail to the left (west) one mile passed the third stream crossing. This trail like Copper Creek Trail was once used to haul ore. It is wider than most footpaths. Any venture into the south side of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness is well worth the energy and this trail is no exception. The Copper Creek Valley is amazingly beautiful. The mine site lies high on a ridge in the valley and provides breathtaking views of Triangle Pass, Whiterock Mountain and Copper Creek.
Directions from Crested Butte: Travel six miles north of Crested Butte on Gothic Road to the Judd Falls Trailhead. Hike to Judd Falls and continue on the Copper Creek Trail from there.
