General Description

Rocky Brook Road, Forest Service Road 748, begins from Spring Creek Road, Forest Road 744, less than a mile south of Spring Creek Reservoir. The road leads northeast from an elevation of 9,858 feet. Within a half mile of Spring Creek Road, Rocky Brook Road crosses Spring Creek. Shortly after this crossing the road begins to parallel Rocky Brook.

The road climbs slowly following Rocky Brook. Three miles from Spring Creek Road, Dustin Gulch Road, 748.1A, branches southward and crosses Rocky Brook. One mile from Dustin Gulch Road, Dustin Park Road, 748.1B, branches from Rocky Brook Road and follows Dustin Gulch. This road eventually becomes the Matchless Trail 413. It leads to the parking lot of the Rivers End Campground on the shores of Taylor Park Reservoir.

Within a half mile of Dustin Park Road, Rocky Brook Road reaches 10,600 feet and begins to descend into the Taylor River drainage. Six miles from Spring Creek Road is the Star Trailhead. Star Trail leads north from Rocky Brook Road to Reno Divide. From Star Trailhead, Rocky Brook Road follows Trail Creek. It's approximately a four and a half mile descent to Taylor River Road from the Star Trailhead. Rocky Brook Road joins Taylor River Road at an elevation of 9,705 feet.

Directions from Taylor River Road: Travel 30 miles north of Almont on Taylor River Road to Rocky Brook Road, Forest Service Road 748.

Directions from Spring Creek Road: Travel seven and a half miles on Taylor River Road to Spring Creek Road (Forest Road 744). Turn left on to Spring Creek Road and travel approximately 11.5 miles to Rocky Brook Road.
