The Lake Irwin Ski Route leads from Kebler Pass to the town of Irwin and passed the lake back to Kebler Pass. It is a two mile loop that provides access to some very scenic terrain including the Ruby Mountain Range. The Irwin Lodge lies above the lake and provides winter accommodations and Snowcat skiing. Be sure to call in advance to secure reservations for lunch at the lodge.Travel west on Kebler Pass from the winter snow closure for five miles to the Lake Irwin turnoff. From Kebler Pass Road, head north through a wide basin, staying to the left of Coal Creek. You'll see Snowcat tracks leading to the left, these will take you to the Anthracite Creek Valley and Irwin Lodge. Continue following Coal Creek northward to the townsite of Irwin. Ski northwest through the conifers to Irwin Lake. This trail will take you on the south side of the lake. You can follow Lake Irwin Road to the south or return the way you came.
Directions from Crested Butte: Drive westward on Kebler Pass approximately two miles to the winter closure.
