Access to Overland Reservoir can be easy or difficult, depending on the road conditions. Road #701, from Road #265, and the Powerline Road from Stevens Gulch are dirt roads. When wet, they become very slick, requiring the use of chains or a four-wheel drive vehicle; but when the roads are dry there is no problem at all, except that the Powerline Road is fairly bumpy.Overland Reservoir is stocked every year by the Colorado Division of Wildlife with Rainbow and Brook Trout. The average size of the fish caught is six to eight inches. The reservoir is drained every fall, so the fish have no chance of reaching larger sizes. The fisherman with a boat may have better luck than fishing from the bank. There are many camping spots located on the east side of the Reservoir. There are also road closures posted and persons that disregard these are subject to a fine. This area offers a very beautiful setting, with the deep blue reservoir, grassy parks and thick green timber.
