Comanche Campground lies on Gold Creek Road, Forest Road 771.1, on the eastern border of the Fossil Ridge Recreation Management Area. Mountain biking and four-wheel driving are very popular activities for visitors to this site. The Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area serves hikers, backpackers and equestrians, and is located north of Comanche Campground. No mechanized or motorized vehicles are permitted in any wilderness area.
Directions from Parlin: From Parlin on Highway 50 turn northeast on to State Road 76. Travel several miles, at least 10, to the mining village of Ohio. When you reach Ohio turn left on to Forest Road 711.1, Gold Creek Road. Travel approximately 2.25 miles to Comanche Campground.
