Agate Creek Trail, 484, leaves Highway 50 north of Sargents and leads eastward. This trail winds through the Agate Creek drainage paralleling the Continental Divide and eventually rising to meet it. Agate Creek Trail begins at an elevation of 9,120 feet and follows the creek gaining elevation steadily. Approximately five miles from the trailhead the path leaves the creek. It climbs for three more miles to a height of approximately 11,850 feet where the trail intersects Trail 531. Trail 531 is known by many names including the Summit Trail, Monarch Trail, Colorado Trail and Continental Divide Trail. This intersection lies two and a half miles north from Marshall Pass. Fishing is reported as fair along the creek.
Directions from Gunnison: Highway 50 Access:Travel a few miles past the closed Agate Creek Campground to a point on the road which is signed as "Agate Creek." Pull off there and descend down to Agate Creek following Trail 484.
Directions from Gunnison: Agate Creek Campground Access:Take Highway 50 east out of Gunnison. About four miles past Sargents is the currently closed Agate Creek Campground. Turn right into the Campground and go to the far east end. An "Agate Creek Trail" sign marks the beginning of the trail.Access # 2:Go a few miles past the campground to a point on the road which is signed as "Agate Creek". Pull off there and descend down to Agate Creek.
