The headwaters of Marshall Creek lie near Marshall Pass on the Continental Divide at an elevation of 10,800 feet. The stream flows westward between the Sawatch Mountains and the Cochetopa Hills to meet the waters of Tomichi Creek in Sargents.The first nine miles of this stream (from Sargents) are on private land. Above that section Marshall Creek flows entirely on public land. The lower section of stream contains rainbow, brook and brown trout. The upstream section will have rainbow and brook trout, and may have many beaver ponds scattered along its length, particularly in the areas containing large amounts of willows. Indian Creek and Harry Creek are the only contributing streams to Marshall Creek that contain fish in catchable numbers and sizes.
Directions from Gunnison: Travel east from Gunnison on Highway 50 to Sargents (33 miles). Immediately east of Sargents turn right onto Marshall Pass Road, Forest Service Road 234. This road parallels Marshall Creek to its headwaters on Marshall Pass sixteen miles away.
