General Description

Both the Middle Fork and Centennial Ridge Roads were old access roads to several mining claims. There are several old mines along both these roads.

The Middle Fork of the Little Laramie River Road follows the Middle Fork of the Little Laramie River down a rather steep canyon. The canyon is rather steep and offers some spectacular scenery. The road so rough and travel is slow. The River offers good fishing and there are several good camping and picnic sites.

The Centennial Ridge Road is fairly flat; however, the road is very narrow where it passes through trees. The Queen Mine, located on Centennial Ridge is unique and has most of the old mining building still over it. The view from Centennial ridge is spectacular.

Caution must be used around the old mines. Many shafts are vertical and bank sloughing is common. Horizontal shafts are unsafe and subject to cave-ins. Exploration of old mines is discouraged.

Directions from Centennial: Travel 2 miles north on State Highway 230 to Ehline Road, which is opposite the national Forest information trailer. Go south on the Ehline Road for approximately two miles where this road begins. There is a sign on the Ehline Road which says ³Centennial Ridge².

Seasonal Information:
Normally Accessible: Early Summer through Late Fall (NOTE: Travel is not advised when road is wet or muddy.) .
