There is public access to the Conejos River and Elk Creek. Elk Creek Trail 731, Duck Lake 732 and Posos Trail 732 can be accessed from here. Elk Creek Campground is for day use and overnight use. Reservations are accepted at this campground. Firewood is not provided. There are 31 campsites with tables and fireplaces, 3 vault type toilets, drinking water (3 hand pumps) and refuse receptacles for your convenience. There are also 14 overflow campsites (no picnic tables or fireplaces). There is private property in the vicinity of the site. Please respect the rights of the property owners.

Directions from Antonito, Colorado: Travel 24.0 miles west on Colorado Highway 17, then 0.7 miles west on Forest Road #250 (the Platoro turnoff) or 1.0 mile southwest on Forest Road # 128 to campground entrance.

Seasonal Information:
Normal Services Available: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend (NOTE: After Labor Day Weekend, Campground will remain open with reduced services until the end of the Big Game Hunting season and Fall color viewing.) .

Conejos River - The Conejos River provides more than 30 stream miles of high quality wild trout fishing. The Conejos River has more public fishing access along its length than any other major river in Colorado.

Duck Lake Trail - The Duck Lake Trail is a fairly gentle walk that offers scenic vistas of the Conejos Valley and gives access to several fishing lakes.

Elk Creek Trail - The Elk Creek Trail is popular with hikers, fishermen, and horseback riders and it provides an ideal day hike for those camping at Elk Creek or Old La Manga campgrounds.
