This fairly well-traveled road begins .5 miles west of the historic mining town of Jasper. The road was once used by miners who led burro trains over the pass down Burro Creek, to Los Pinos Creek and Del Norte. A loop can be made starting from Alamosa going up the Alamosa Canyon, over Blowout Pass and returning to Alamosa by way of Del Norte. Spring Creek Road is a steep narrow road with little clearance for vehicles.The road begins by making a very gradual climb through stands of aspen. At approximately 3/4 mile, the road begins climbing a steep grade and is soon traversing narrow rocky slopes.
Directions from Monte Vista, Colorado: Take the Gunbarrel, State Road 15, 12 miles to the Alamosa Canyon Road #250. Proceed 22.5 miles west to Spring Creek Road.
Directions from Del Norte, Colorado: Take the Pinos Road #330, 18 miles to Forest Development Road # 329. Proceed east approximately 12 miles to the Conejos Peak District Boundary.
