Crooked Creek Campground - Usually has a vacancy when other upriver campgrounds are full.Located very close to Forest Road 520, with heavy traffic.
East Bellows Trail - The trail provides good hiking access to Wheeler Geologic Area, Halfmoon Pass, and the La Garita Wilderness. Beautiful views and unique geologic features are the main attractions of this trail.
Farmers Creek Trail - Only a few decent camping places exist along the lower portion of the trail. Good scenery and access to Wheeler Geologic Area, La Garita Wilderness and the vastness of Wason Park.
La Garita - Phoenix Park-Halfmoon Pass Trail - Excellent scenery, a bounty of wildflowers and a good opportunity to see elk exist along this trail. Large open alpine meadows with scattered patches of old growth spruce/fir timber are a common part of the landscape.
Middle Fork Cut-Off Trail - The trail offers an alternative or circuit route to Machin Lake from the Middle Fork trail. It is steep and poorly marked; it has been staked for future reconstruction.
Middle Fork Trail - The trail provides a direct route to Machin Lake via the Middle Fork of Saguache Creek. Attractions are fishing in the lake and creeks, a waterfall midway, diverse wildlife, and excellent scenery.
Miners Creek Trail - Scenery and solitude are available along this trail. Excellent views of white chalk like cliffs are present at the head of Miners Creek.
Rio Grande Dispersed Camping Area - Site is located 9.5 miles southwest of Creede just off Colorado Highway 149. Screening - on an open bench directly on Rio Grande River - trees along river.
Rio Grande River - The Rio Grande is a popular rafting area. Because of shallow water and many boulders, the river is better suited for rafting than canoeing and kayaking
Sawmill Gulch Trail (Divide Ranger District) - The main attraction of this trail is the access to Crystal Lake. Good camping areas are generally not available until reaching the McKenzie Park area approximately 3.3 miles from the Miners Creek Road.
Silver Thread National Scenic Byway - This scenic highway passes through Creede and the Upper Rio Grande Valley and contains some of the most magnificent scenery and colorful history in the Sate of Colorado.
