General Description

The first 1 1/2 miles of the trail along the Burro Creek road is on private property. Please use courtesy in this area, as well as on National forest land. Because the first several miles of the trail are at a relatively low elevation, you may encounter areas of sparse snow cover at the beginning of the season.

The trail travels up Burro Creek to Blowout Pass, west along the ridgetop trail for 1 1/2 miles where it turns north and returns to Fitton. There are other loop possibilities in this area by using unplowed forest roads (e.g. Forest Road 329 and Forest Road 330).

For a one day trip, travel on the trail to the Fitton Guard Station and return by the same route. Contact the Del Norte Ranger District for more information.

Directions from Del Norte: Take the Pinos Creek Road 11 miles south of U.S. Highway 160 in Del Norte to the trailhead.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: Winter through Spring (NOTE: Winter season) .
