General Description

This trail is within the Weminuche Wilderness. Fishing and sightseeing are popular attractions for recreationists visiting this area. Camping is recommended in an open park close to the trailhead.

Directions from South Fork: Take U.S. Highway 160 10.5 miles west of South Fork. Turn right on Big Meadows Road and follow it 1.5 miles to Big Meadows Reservoir. Take the Archuleta Trail (Forest Development Trail 839) until it intersects with South Fork Trail (Forest Trail 750). Turn left at the intersection and walk until it intersects the Spruce Lakes Trail (Forest Road 710).
