This trail is mostly used by people camping at Cross Creek Campground during the summer months. In the fall it is used by big game hunters. The end of the trail offers some beautiful views of Del Norte Peak, Willow Park and the surrounding area.
Directions from South Fork: Travel 1 1/2 mile west from South Fork on U.S. Highway 160. Turn left at Beaver Creek Road and drive about 7 miles to the Cross Creek Campground. The trail goes east from the campground.

Beaver Creek Reservoir - All sizes of rainbow, brown, brook and native cutthroat trout as well as kokanee salmon tempt the fisherman. There is a paved boat ramp at the south end and the reservoir is suitable for rafts to small motor boats.
Cross Creek Campground - Cross Creek Campground is in the Beaver Creek drainage southwest of the town of South Fork. Beaver Creek and Beaver Reservoir have fishing. Cross Creek Trail # 512 has the biggest Douglas fir tree in the Rio Grande National Forest.
Largest Tree Cross-country Ski Trail - This short ski trail leads to the largest tree ever found on the Rio Grande National Forest. The huge Douglas-fir is over 66" (168 cm) in diameter, or 207" (526 cm) in circumference.
