General Description

This campground usually has vacancy when other upriver campgrounds are full. It is located very close to Forest Road 520, which means there is heavy vehicle traffic. There are 3 low development units, no tables, fireplaces, firewood, trash cans or drinking water provided. A vault type toilet is located across the road

Directions from Creede, Colorado: Travel south on Colorado Highway 149 for 20.1 miles, to the intersection of Highway 149 and Forest Road #520 (Rio Grande Reservoir Road). Go 1.8 miles west on Road #520.

Related Activities

Cross Creek Campground - Cross Creek Campground is in the Beaver Creek drainage southwest of the town of South Fork. Beaver Creek and Beaver Reservoir have fishing. Cross Creek Trail # 512 has the biggest Douglas fir tree in the Rio Grande National Forest.

Ivy Creek Campground - This facility has one developed site with a table and fire ring, and 3 undeveloped sites. This campground is considered to be remote and is usually not heavily used, yet it is very attractive with trees and open grassland.

Marshall Park Campground - This site is located near Colorado Hwy. 149 and is the closest forest campground to Creede. There is very little screening or trees, so heavy vehicle traffic along Colorado Hwy. 149 is visible.
