General Description

The Lake Fork Rest Area is 27 miles west of Del Norte and 9 miles west of South Fork alongside U.S. Highway 160. There is parking for trailers and RV's and a vault type toilet is provided. Lake Creek and the South Fork of the Rio Grande are nearby for fishing. There is also access to Lake Fork Trail 836. This facility is for day use only. Please pack your trash, no refuse receptacles are provided.

Directions from Del Norte: Located 27 miles west of Del Norte on U.S. Highway 160.

Directions from South Fork: Located 9 miles west of South Fork on U.S. Highway 160.

Cascade Falls Ski Trail - The first part of the trail is the same as the Big Meadows Campground. The trail to the falls leaves from the upper campground loop and is marked by a wooden sign.

Lake Fork Trail - The Lake Fork Trail has been designated a National Recreation Trail. It follows Lake Creek through a rocky canyon, then gradually breaks into open meadows.
