Travel 16.5 miles northwest on Colorado Highway 114, then 2.7 miles southwest on Forest Road #690 (County Road 41G--La Garita Road), and 2 miles southeast on Forest Road #710 to Big Springs Picnic Area.

Big Springs is a large spring which comes out of the rocks in this shady area. Tree species are identified with signs. Various 4 WD and dirt roads are nearby.

There are 7 sites with tables and 1 group site with tables, but no water. Vault toilets and fireplaces are provided. Please pack your trash as refuse receptacles are not provided.

Directions from Saguache: Travel 16.5 miles northwest on Colorado Highway 114, then 2.7 miles southwest on Forest Road #690 (County Road 41G--La Garita Road), and 2 miles southeast on Forest Road #710 to Big Springs Picnic Area.
