Begin at Windy Point parking area and head north on the switchback going downhill. Follow this road as it curves back and turn right just before the first fence. Follow this logging road uphill until you reach NN 14 again at Cochetopa Pass. Turn right and ride on this road past Luders Creek Campground. Turn left at Taylor Canyon Road and proceed along the jeep trail. The road from there becomes confusing, follow the signs carefully. Remain on Taylor Canyon Road and follow it back to NN 14. Turn right and follow the highway back to the parking area. You will reach Cochetopa Pass 3.2 miles from the parking area. Turn left over the cattle guard and ride 50 feet and you will see the historical marker bearing the old stage route and elevation. At that marker, you are in a wonderful area to camp for the night, if your trip allows. Be careful once you are on Taylor Canyon Road, because there are two barbed wire fences across the trail. In order to pass, you must open the gates, and close them once you have gone through. Depending on the time of year, you may encounter cows while on this road. Proceed slowly, as some cattle may see fit to graze in the middle of the trail. The trail has few obstacles and rather shallow climbs with some rough surfaces.
