General Description

The trailhead for these trails is at the Mountain Park Campground.

Kreutzer Trail:
The Kreutzer Trail is a signed interpretive nature trial and offers an enjoyable hike for the young and old. No drinking water is available. It is part of the National Recreation Trail system.

Mt McConnel:
The Mt McConnel Trail begins at the high point of the Kreutzer Trail. The Mummy Range is viewed from the summit of Mt. McConnel. The descending loops are steep and rocky. Take drinking water.

Directions from Fort Collins: Travel west up Poudre Canyon on Hwy 14 approximately 26 miles. Turn south into the Mountain Park Campground onto the paved road. Southeast of the road you will find the Kreutzer Nature Trail #936. At the high point of the Kreutzer trail is the Mt. McConnel trailhead.

Gates were closed so I parked on the road and hiked into the area. Conditions: There was about 1-4 inches of snow, depending on where you were on the trail. It was sunny, but in the afternoon the trail is on the opposite side of the slope from the sun - gets breezy. Water Availability: I had 2.5L of water with me, as well as some iodine - I didn't run out and didnt find a place to use the iodine besides the Cache La Poudre River.
