General Description

The Buckhorn campsites are located 14 miles northwest of Masonville along Buckhorn Creek at an elevation of 8,000 feet. The area offers fishing, and several jeep trails.

Facilities:
This area has 10 campsites. The campsites have tables and fire grates. There are no toilets or drinking water and no fees are charged.

Directions from LaPorte: Travel west on County Road 54G approximately 1 mile to County Road 52E. Travel west approximately 15 miles to County Road 27. Travel south on County Road 27 approximately 4 miles to County Road 44H, then travel west 2 miles to the site.

This was an early trip 4-24-08, and the upper part of the road was closed, however, we only saw one campsite near the ranger station. No obvious fishing areas. We ended up camping up toward red feather lakes - free sites - a total of 30 I think. Conditions: Dirt road all the way, wet.
