Quick Facts

North Fork Trail

General Description

Once over and down the ridge west of the parking lot, the trail becomes fairly level as it parallels and crisscrosses the North Fork of the Big Thompson River. Bridges are available for each river crossing.

Deserted Village is 3 miles from the trailhead. Once an active hunting camp with several buildings, now there remains only one log structure in this large meadow.

This trail offers the opportunity to travel into Rocky Mountain National Park. The Park boundary is 4.5 miles from the trailhead. Make sure when planning a trip into Rocky Mountain National Park that you first check with Park Headquarters for camping, fishing, and fire regulations.
