General Description

The Sand Creek - George Creek area offers virtually every type of terrain. It is open mountain bike, motorcycle and ATV travel. Vegetation ranges from natural meadows to dense lodgepole stands to timber cuts. Access to some of the area is controlled by the Division of Wildlife. Some trail cross private land. Owner permission must be obtained before crossing such land.

Directions from Fort Collins: This area is located northwest of Fort Collins and Redfeather Lakes. It can be reached from County Road 103 (Laramie River Road), County Road 80C (Cherokee Park Road), or County Road 162 (Deadman Road).

You can leave the front range (Denver), go over (barely noticeable) Sand Creek pass then go up to Hohnholz lakes and over the Medicine Bow Range to Kings Canyon on Roach Rd. Won't see many people up here. What I have seen is more elk than anywhere else.
