General Description

This trail follows an old logging road between Hwy. 14 and Zimmerman Lake. It climbs through an Engelmann spruce/subalpine fir forest to the lake, which is nestled at the base of volcanic cliffs. Zimmerman Lake is a reservoir just outside of the Neota Wilderness boundary. There is a loop trail that circles the lake and is marked in blue diamonds. The Meadows Trail starts from the northeast side of the lake.

Directions from Fort Collins: Travel about 65 miles west on Highway 14 to the Zimmerman Lake Road. Parking is available there.
