Report: Really nice campground; Level tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings and charcoal grills at each site, clean bathrooms, and drinking water available onsite. One of the nicest places I have ever camped. I loved having a site right by the stream, and we didn't have any neighbors that we could see, so it was very quiet and secluded. Bring your own firewood; you can purchase it at the Grant Country Store which is on the left hand side of 285 just before the Guanella Pass Highway turnoff. 285 is currently the only way to access the campground with the closure between Georgetown and Clear Lake. The closure also prevents access to Clear Lake, but for fishing you can try Silver Dollar Lake. Don't expect to be able to fish onsite as stated in the description here.
Conditions: As previous reviewers said, a 0 degree sleeping bag is appropriate even in the middle of summer (this place is at 11,000 feet so nights are VERY chilly). Also, get ready for LOTS of mosquitoes.

Report: A four-wheeled drive is recommended. A drive or a hike to the mine is spectacular. We went vary far up the pass and camped in a ring along the river, very peaceful sight, and close enough for a one night trip. We will be back to this site soon!
Conditions: It was a tad muddy. It was a bit cold at night. (a 0 degree sleeping bag would be recommended)
Water Availability: We camped off the main site, so we brought water, shovels, and an ax. Bring a tarp/rope for the afternoon showers.

Report: This was a nice campground. I had a site next to the stream. It is an excellent place to stay while hiking Silver Dollar Lake Trail or any of the 4 trails from Guanella Pass Trailhead. In July the mountain flowers are all over the campground. You can reserve a site ahead of time or stay at one of the first come/first served sites. It gets cold at night even in July so bring a warm sleeping bag!
