Report: A nice little campground with lots of activity, Echo Lake is close to the lake itself which is a small, stocked, fishing hole and picnic area - no boats (too small). There is a lodge / giftshop / restaurant right next door. A car road which is right beside the campground and lodge leads up to Mt Evans (pass required). And a trailhead is located in the campground itself. Also, the University of Denver has a lab right in the campground. The campground has a stone gazebo with a big fireplace pit in the middle made, presumably, for group get-togethers. The water pump is right beside it. Sat afternoon the traffic up Mt Evans was heavy. The trail hikers were numerous all week end. All in all, a nice place. Very busy. Tent spots 1-4 are exposed to a lot of this traffic. Camp spots each have a grill in addition to their fire ring and picnic table. Some spots have a bench next to the fire ring. Camped in early July and experienced some pm showers. Friday night was cool, but Sat night, after a good rain, was quite nippy (30ish) and sometimes windy.
