This trail begins at the I-70 exit #218, just east of the Loveland Ski Area. It is a difficult trail near some major avalanche chutes but these can be avoided and the scenery is superb.
Ski northeast from the parking area to a sign which points up the trail. The first half mile is steep and narrow, traversing up out of the Clear Creek Valley to the beginning of Herman Gulch. From here it is a gentle climb up the wide gulch floor to an open amphitheater at the end. Be cautious of avalanches on the north side of the gulch by skiing along the south side of the gulch.
