This intermediate trail begins along the Guanella Pass Road south of Georgetown. The town of Waldorf was an old mining town, however today all that remains are several old buildings. The trail climbs above the Guanella Pass Road and then circles around to the north and crosses Leavenworth Creek. There are three trails that head west-southwest up Leavenworth Canyon. The Waldorf Road switches back up the hillside three times and then proceeds on up to Waldorf on a very gentle uphill grade with many straight sections. Within half a mile of the top switchback is a south facing section which often loses its snow and must be walked. The other two trails leave from the bottom of the switchbacks on the left and from the second switchback on the left. These two trails connect within half a mile, to form one trail. Please avoid willow clumps by staying on the main trail at and above timberline. Willow is important habitat for the white tailed ptarmigan which winters in the area.
