Monarch Lake

150 acre Monarch Lake is located east of Granby in the Arapaho National Recreation Area. The lake is kept at a constant level to support a high quality nonmotorized recreation experience. No motorized boats are allowed and there are no boat launching facilities. Canoes, kayaks, rafts, or other nonmotorized craft must be carried from the parking lot to the lake. There are vault toilets but no drinking water available. This is a relatively small lake with beautiful mountain scenery.
Directions from Granby: Take Highway 40 west to Highway 34. Go north on 34 to Forest Road 125, on the south edge of Lake Granby. Follow 125 east along Lake Granby to Monarch Lake.
