The campground is located next to North Fork Reservoir. The North Fork of the Arkansas River flows from the reservoir. There are beaver ponds for fishing along the road to the campground. The area is wooded with Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and aspen trees. There is a small parking area for anglers day use in the campground. There a eight sites that accommodate trailers 20 feet long and tent camping at the North Fork Reservoir Campground. Vault toilets, tables, fire grates and trash dumpsters are provided for users. There is no drinking water and no hookups available. Fishing in North Fork Reservoir and the North Fork of the South Arkansas River is the main attraction at this site. There is opportunity for four-wheel driving, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking from this location.
Directions from Poncha Springs: From the intersection of Highways 50 and 285 drive west on Highway 50. Continue for 6 miles until you reach County Road 240. Turn right (north) on to 240 and travel 10 miles to the North Fork Campground. County Road 240 is paved for the first 3.5 miles. The remaining 6.5 miles to the campground is dirt road. After the Angel of Shavano Campground the road may be very rough and steep. Be sure to watch for large rocks in the road.
