The Angel of Shavano Family Campground has 20 sites, some that can accommodate vehicles up to 44 feet in length. A hand pump provides water for drinking. The campground has 1 vault toilet and all sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Trash service is provided and recycling of aluminum cans is encouraged. No hookups are provided.Fishing is available in the North Fork of the South Arkansas River and in North Fork Reservoir. The road to North Fork Reservoir can be very rough and steep in places and is not recommended for vehicles towing trailers. Hiking access is available on the Colorado Trail, Mt. Shavano and Mt. Tabeguache. A series of beaver ponds are located within walking distance of the campground. The area is wooded with Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir and Aspen trees.
Directions from Poncha Springs: Begin driving from the intersection of Highway 285 and Highway 50 in Poncha Springs. Travel six miles west on Highway 50 to Maysville. Turn right (north) on to County Road 240 and drive four miles to the campground. The road is paved to within one mile of the campground.
