Access to this trail is on Huerfano Trail 1307 which meets up with Cascade Trail at Strawberry Creek about five miles from the trailhead. Access is restricted by private land; Forest Road 580 goes through private land, so please stay on the road until within the forest boundary.There are undeveloped camping sites along the road, trail and trailhead.
Fishing is popular from the side trails along the route, especially Huerfano River, South Fork and Cascade Creek , which is catch and release.
Directions from Redwing: Forest Road 480 starts near Redwing. 4WD or high clearance vehicles are recommended beyond the state wildlife area. The trailhead starts on the east side of the road, approximately 5 miles southwest of the wildlife area.
