Activities accessible at this site include: horseback riding, hiking, picnicking and viewing scenery. A four mile loop trail provides a scenic venue for equestrian and hiking. Along the trail you'll notice a variety of plants and wildlife that are supported by several springs in the area. Look for rock art on the southern canyon walls. Unusual rock formations along the trail are the main attraction for most visitors. The facilities include three covered picnic tables with grills, one vault toilet and a four mile loop trail. Drinking water is not provided at this site.
Directions from La Junta: Drive south on Highway 109 for 58 miles to Highway 160. Turn left (east) on 160 and travel 28 miles to County Road 13. Turn right on to Road 13 and travel 12 miles to County Road J, where you will turn left (east). Drive 5 miles on Road J to Road 18 and turn right (south).
Directions from Springfield: Drive south on Highway 287 for 20 miles. At the town of Campo turn right (west) on to County Road J, and continue traveling for 10 miles. When you reach Country Road 18 turn left (south) and travel 5 miles. Turn right at the Picture Canyon sign and drive one mile to the parking lot.
