The Trail Creek Campground is located in the Westcreek area several miles north of Highway 24 and Florissant Fossil Beds. It has two sites for RVs and five tent sites across Trail Creek. The elevation is 7,800 feet and the camping season begins in May and continues into October. This campground is located three miles southwest of Westcreek along County Road 3. This campground is more "out of the way" than most of the Forest Service campgrounds with generally lighter use. This characteristic offers more opportunity for quiet and solitude to be found in the National Forest.Trail Creek Campground has tables, vault toilets and fire grates. There is no user fee required at this site and no potable water. Garbage collection is not provided so please "Pack out your trash" when you leave. Opportunities for motorized recreation experiences on four-wheel drive, ATV and motorcycles can be found in this area through an extensive network of roads and trails with a variety of experiences available. The access roads to these areas are narrow and winding thus not well suited for large trailers or motor homes, so please drive with caution. These roads receive a low-level of maintenance and may be inaccessible in the winter. This site gets moderate to heavy use during the Summer and Fall, and light use during the Winter and Spring.
Directions from Colorado Springs: Drive 18 miles west on Highway 24 west to Woodland Park. Turn north on Highway 67 and travel 7 miles to Forest Road 340. Turn left on to Forest Road 340 and drive 5 miles to County Road 3. Turn south (left) on County Road 3 then travel 2 miles to the Trail Creek Campground.
