General Description

South Meadows Campground is located in the Manitou Park Recreation Area north of Woodland Park. It has 64 camp sites to accommodate campers at least 30' long. The elevation is 8,000'. The camping season is year-round and the user fee is $12.00 per night per site. This campground has paved roads and pads. All areas have tables, fire grates, potable water, vault toilets and garbage collection.

Many of the visitors to these campgrounds use them as a base from
which they visit the many attractions in the area which range from Pikes
Peak to the Air Force Academy to the Garden of the Gods. Manitou Lake is a 34-acre reservoir where the entire family can enjoy fishing and hiking. Motorboats and swimming are not permitted, because of the easy access to this area and its popularity. Fishing occurs year-round in the reservoir along with Trout Creek for those who prefer stream fishing. An asphalt-surfaced bicycle trail #699, approximately 4.2 miles long connects all of the campgrounds and the picnic ground; an enjoyable event for kids of all ages.

RV dump station located at Pike Community Group Area has both potable and non-potable water. It may be closed down after Labor Day. South Meadows and Manitou Lake are open year-round. This area gets heavy use during spring, summer, and fall; light use during winter.

Directions from Colorado Springs: Drive west on Highway 24 for 18 miles to Woodland Park. Turn right on to Highway 67 and travel north 7 miles to South Meadows Campground.

Even on Saturday the cg was full and it did not seem crowded. The sites are nice and big. There is a nice little path on the backside that leads to a beaver pond. Conditions: All of the campgrounds in this area are pleasant - I drove around Colorado and the Painted Rocks cg's and recommend them both as well. Water Availability: As with most NP campgrounds water is available at the faucet near the vault toilets.

Colorado Campground - Colorado Campground is located in the Manitou Park Recreation Area. This campground is often used as a base to visit the many attractions in the Colorado Springs region.

Manitou Lake Family Picnic Ground - Manitou Lake Picnic Ground is located in the Manitou Park Recreation Area north of Woodland Park. Forty-two picnic sites are available as well as a pavilion for group outings.

Manitou Park Lake Trail - Manitou Lake Trail, #670, encircles the 34-acre reservoir and is open to hikers and mountain bikers. It's a short trail with little elevation gain. It makes a good turnaround for individuals riding the Centennial Trail.

Painted Rocks Campground - Painted Rocks Campground is located in the Manitou Park Recreation Area north of Woodland Park. It has 18 camp sites to accommodate campers at least 30' long.

Pike Community Group Site - The Pike Community Group Campground is located 5.3 miles north of Woodland Park on Colorado Highway 67. This area is developed for group camping but may be reserved for day use at the overnight use rate.

Red Rocks Group Site - The Red Rocks Group Campground is located 4 miles north of Woodland Park on Colorado Highway 67. This area is developed for group camping but may be reserved for day-use at the overnight-use rate.
