BPW Nature Trail (#712) is located in the Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area. Building the trail was a project of the Business and Professional Women and is an interpretive trail designed for wheelchairs with signing in Braille. Provided is a vault toilet and drinking water.There is a $4 day-use fee at Rampart Reservoir. The trail meanders through a sunny hillside, giant granite boulders surrounded by aspens, a creek, and a cool, wet fir and spruce forest. Information signs are printed in Braille, as well as English. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: This trail is only accessible to wheelchairs during summer months. AT PRESENT, TRAIL IS ROUGH, THE BRIDGE BROKEN AND TRAIL NEEDS WORK.
Directions from Colorado Springs: Drive 18 miles west on Hwy 24 to Woodland Park. Turn right on Baldwin Avenue (immediately before the McDonalds) and drive 3 miles to Forrest Road 300. Turn right on 300 and travel 5 miles to FDR 306. The trail is 2.5 miles from this point.
Directions from Colorado Springs: If you are looking for a scenic drive prior to your hike, the Rampart Range Road offers scenicvistas of Colorado Springs and many canyons. Take the Manitou Springs exit as if going to Garden of the Gods. After going past "Balanced Rock" a sign on the left will indicate the Rampart Range Road. This route should be chosen only if you have an extra hour of driving time.
