General Description

Thunder Ridge Campground has 21 camp sites at least 30 feet long. Three of the sites have been developed for people with disabilities (sites 8, 10 and 22). The elevation is 9,200 feet and the camping season begins in late May and continues through September. NOTE: There are no wheelchair-accessible toilets.

Camp sites in Thunder Ridge may be reserved through the national reservation system, by calling 1.877.444.6777. Reservations may be made up to 240 days in advance of your first night of arrival or as late as five days prior to your arrival. There is a two-night minimum stay for Meadow Ridge if reservations are made for either Friday or Saturday night. Facilities provided include tables, fire grates, drinking water, vault-type toilets and garbage collection.

Directions from Colorado Springs: Drive 18 miles west on Hwy 24 to Woodland Park. Turn right immediately before the McDonald's and drive approximately 3 miles to reach Rampart Range Road (Forest Road 300). Travel south a few miles then turn left on Forest Road 306. From there it is 2 miles to the campground.

Clean fresh air, etc... Awesome hiking trails. Conditions: Both times I have been there it was great weather. Water Availability: We brought water with us but there is plenty of water there. The pipes had a leak somewhere but the camp hosts had a barrel full and would also come by in the morning and fill up whatever you need also. Number of People Encountered: 0-10 ppl Recommend to a Friend: Highly Report: Beautiful camping! Don't shy away from this one because you need shade. Although most of the pads are sunny, there is ample shade at each site. Sites are roomy and fairly private. This is an all around good campground.
